Celebrate summer with the Women's Resource Center!
Event chairs Elizabeth Leatherman and Susan Sipprelle invite you to celebrate summer with the Women’s Resource Center! There is nothing better than mingling on a breezy evening in the City by the Sea. Guests will enjoy the tented dockside terrace, passed hors d'oeuvres, light bites, refreshing cocktails, mocktails, and vibrant local entertainment.
Our fundraising efforts have taken on a new urgency this year. 80% of our operating budget comes from government sources. Which means 80% of our funding is uncertain right now. We have already started feeling the impacts: contracts not yet renewed, funding applications for grants we rely on pulled from federal websites. Funding that:
- helps us pay for five transitional housing apartments, utilities, and case management for survivors just getting back on their feet after fleeing abuse;
- supports our LGBTQ Advocacy program, ensuring that all people escaping abusive relationships have access to the supports they need to find safety and healing;
- supports prevention programming, our efforts to create a future where domestic violence no longer exists.
Will these contracts ultimately be renewed? Will the grant solicitations be open again? We don’t know. Perhaps. But we will not chance losing these critical programs—or ANY of our programs that are funded through federal grants.
We are looking to you-- our generous community supporters-- to help us in this moment. We need your help to ensure that our services continue and that we are here for the survivors that need us, regardless of shifts in federal funding priorities.

About: The Women’s Resource Center is the ONLY domestic violence organization serving the East Bay community and each year more than 1,100 individuals reach out to us for help. Our dedicated advocates and providers help navigate the systems and many barriers that victims face when leaving an abusive situation. Our free and confidential services help empower survivors on their journey to finding peace and safety for their families.
