The Women's Resource Center is grateful for the support of the Newport Rotary Club who features our work in the 2022 Newport Polo Program and created this campaign to help us raise $10,000 in much needed funds this summer.

For more than 45 years the Women's Resource Center (WRC) has been leading domestic violence prevention through the empowerment of individuals and the community by providing advocacy, education and support services.

Our comprehensive services include 24-hour hotline, crisis intervention, court advocacy, emergency safe home shelter, transitional housing, group and individual counseling. All services are free and confidential.

Over the past two years, during a pandemic that is increasing the need for our services, programs have had funding cut by 70% - a total of nearly $275,000. Domestic violence is a community issue and deserves a community response. We need your support now more than ever.

The Women's Resource Center is the only domestic violence advocacy agency serving Newport and Bristol Counties.

In 2021, the WRC provided 7,486 support sessions to 1,259 clients.

Crisis - our staff answered 1,748 hotline calls.

Shelter - 12 adults and 22 children spent 2,164 nights in shelter

Transitional Housing - 14 adults and 25 children spent 6,361 nights in transitional housing.

Court - our court advocates provided victim and prosecution support with 2,366 sessions to 536 clients.

LEA - our Law Enforcement Advocate supported 427 clients with 737 sessions.

Counseling - our counselors provided 1,530 sessions to 135 clients.

Family Violence Option Advocacy Program - FVOAP provided 1,909 sessions to 392 clients throughout Rhode Island.
